Dungeons and Dragons 2023: What Do We Know? β€” Nerd Rambles

21 September 2022 at 16:31

WithΒ Stranger Things,Β Critical RoleΒ andΒ The Adventure ZoneΒ catapulting D&D into the mainstream, I guess it should not come as a surprise that Hollywood would decide to cash in. Considering how the previous movies about the game, namelyΒ Mazes and MonstersΒ andΒ Dark Dungeons,Β portrayed the game as evil and fed into the satanic panic, maybe this film can be seen as anΒ […]

Big Bothy Walk #30 The bothy sat in a fold of the glen beside the Glencoul Loch, carved out by retreating ice many millennia ago. An old schoolhouse once, to the children of all the tiny settlements in the creases and cracks of the nearby hills. Many of these children would grow up and beΒ […]

A Horrible Beginning To September In Mount Shasta β€” Hike Mt. Shasta

21 September 2022 at 15:24

Smoke from the Mill Fire obscures Mount Shasta. No sooner than I posted on the beautiful end to August here in Mount Shasta, we ushered in September in the most horrific manner possible. On the second day of the month, a fire erupted at the lumber mill in Weed and within minutes it had knockedΒ […]

30 August 2022 at 00:08

We made up our minds and randomly decided to go to Crater Lake for our anniversary. I have to say this was a fun adventure and we’ll worth the time. We spent the whole day there and we managed to make it around the whole lake.

Protective Parent/Hiking Adventure

28 August 2022 at 05:55

Funny thing about this hike. I didn’t even mean/plan on going. But the kids were rather determined on going and going just by themselves. I mean there were 6 of them. Normally I wouldn’t worry, but they didn’t bring water/first aid. And only one of them did the trail before. So with out telling them, I have them a 15 minute head start, I grabbed my backpack and followed them. Most of this was shot a after I saw they were safe and on the right path to base camp. (definitely will be having a safety talk later) This whole area is breath taking, so quite. One could get use to living out here.

Norse Mythology – Odin

23 July 2022 at 23:26

Happy Tyr’s Day! I want it to be very clear here that as an atheist I do not believe in the literal god Odin. However, I believe the values and aspirations of the Norse/Germanic people are expressed in the stories they tell about their gods. Mythology, if nothing else, is mostly stories that have moral […]

D&D Tactics for Theater of the Mind

23 July 2022 at 23:16

Originally posted on The Nerdd: Dungeons & Dragons is, at it’s core, a game about killing monsters. It does a lot of other things as well, things that I usually enjoy more, but if you look at the rules and system the game is built on and around, it’s obvious that the whole thing is…

Story Time! Fuzzy Tree

9 July 2022 at 15:30

Story Time! On our last hiking trip, we found a β€œfuzzy” tree hahaha. There were no other trees like it around the area. While we were talking (at least I was talking) about different types of moss. I realized things went silent on his end…Then all I hear is Jackson yell, β€œit’s so fuzzy!”. He had to touch the tree hahaha. HAD TO.

The World isn’t in Your Books.

7 July 2022 at 14:00

I’ve come to really enjoy hiking. Getting away from people and the stress of the world. To detox the mind and soul, with no care in the world. Plus it’s always nice to have father & son time.
